Schumacher is a two-time WNBA champion, NCAA champion, Spanish League Champion, and recently turned pro beach volleyball player. A native of Cincinnati, she attended the University of Connecticut on a basketball scholarship and was drafted first round by the Indiana Fever in the WNBA draft. After a lengthy pro basketball career and a childhood dream of one day being a pro beach volleyball player, in 2010 she decided to pursue a second athletic career in volleyball. During her first season playing on the AVP Tour, she jumped from ranked over 400th to reaching two 17th place finishes. In 2011 and 2012 combined, Schumacher played 23 professional volleyball events and placed in the top 10 in eight events, with four of those placing in the fop five.
Achievements in Basketball: Owns distinction as the only player in WNBA history to in WNBA championship with representatives from the West (Phoenix in 2007) and East (Detroit in 2008). WNBA Championship with Detroit Shock, 2008. WNBA Championship with Phoenix Mercury, 2007. New York Liberty's starting center in 2006 averaging 26 minutes, six rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 7.8 points per game. Named MVP of Spanish Female Basketball League finals 2006. Spanish Female Basketball League Championship with "Perfumerias Avenida de Salamanca", 2006. Spanish Female Basketball League Queen's Cup Championship with "Perfumerias Avenida de Salamanca", 2005. Played five seasons and 159 games with Indiana Fever. At the time she was traded to New York, on Feb. 24, 2006, she had appeared in more Fever games than any other player. Remains among the Fever's career leaders in field goal percentage, rebounds and blocked shots. Fever's starting power forward in first 14 games of 2005. Played WNBA career-high 39 minutes during an overtime game played at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Sept. 16, 2004. Pro WNBA career high of 22 points and nine rebounds in an 81-57 win over San Antonio on July 23, 2003. Recorded 717 points during her collegiate basketball career at the University of Connecticut.
