Bergdahl's father, Matt, was the high school volleyball coach where she played. She played one season at Orange Coast College, where she competed on both the indoor and beach volleyball teams. She then spent two years at San Diego Mesa College, where she again competed in both indoor and beach volleyball. Bergdahl graduated Summa Cum Laude from Colorado Mountain Colleg.
