College: Shaffer played both indoor and beach volleyball at Santa Clara.  As a freshman she had 297 kills, 294 digs and 29 aces, leading the team in kills and aces.  As a sophomore she led the West Coast Conference and ranked 24th nationally with 50 aces, and added 781 assists and 304 digs.  Shaffer was 6-8 alongside Kathryn Decker on court one in beach volleyball before the season was cut short due to COVID. In her junior season she had 395 assists and 16 digs, and was the only conference player and just one of 22 in the NCAA to record a triple-double.  On the beach Shaffer was 7-5 playing with Julia Sangiacomo, splitting time between courts one and two.  Indoors as a senior she ranked second in the conference in aces (42) and added 325 kills and 225 digs.  On the beach she played with three partners and compiled a 24-8 record, mostly alongside Julia Sangiacomo on court one. After a medial redshirt season Shaffer played one season of beach volleyball at Loyola Marymount, with a 31-9 match record on court one alongside Vilhelmiina Prihti.

Personal: Shaffer comes from a volleyball family as her father, David, played at Cal State Northridge and her older brother, Christopher, plays on the AVP.
